Islanders vs Calgary: prediction for the NHL game
The New York Islanders square off against the Calgary Flames in the National Hockey League. We made predictions for this game, which you can find below.
New York Islanders
The New York Islanders are in 14th place in the Eastern Conference and clearly want to strengthen their standings. One of the main reason for such poor results is the Islanders' calendar: the team has not yet played a single match at home since the beginning of the season. Obviously, at a certain point the Islanders got tired, and they are currently on a string of 4 defeats. They got crushed by Minnesota (2:5), New Jersey (0:4), Tampa (1:4) and Florida (1:6). In each of the last three fixtures, Barry Trotz's men couldn't even score two goals.
Calgary are 2nd in the West, losing only one point to the leader of their conference. The Flames lack consistency of late and have been alternating between victories and defeats. Calgary defeated Ottawa (4:0), then lost to Philadelphia (1:2 OT), and crushed Buffalo with a score of 5:0 in the last game. The Flames easily earn two points in the matches against outsiders, but struggle to put up a fight against the powerful opponents.
We also would like to mention, that this will be the 5th away game in a row for Sutter's squad.
In 3 games out of 5, Calgary scored under 3 goals.
In 3 out of 5 games of the Islanders, fewer that 2 goals were scored in the first period.
The Islanders will finally play at home, which will be a big relief after a lengthy away series. Calgary usually defeat the outsiders without any problems, but we wouldn't call the Islanders an outsider here, despite their results. We predict that Barry Trotz's men will break their losing streak if they play solid on the defensive.
Our prediction - handicap (0) to Islanders
Prediction: Handicap (0) to Islanders

The Islanders conceded more than two goals only in the last 4 games. Before that, their performance on the defensive was rock solid, and they conceded no more that 2 goals per game. We believe that at home they will not allow the Flames to score more than that.
Second bet - Calgary IT under 2.5 goals
